The Horsehead and Flame region is one of the most beautiful areas of the sky to photograph. The orange color of the Flame Nebula is very unique. Both nebula are invisible using my telescope, and only show up in long exposure photographs. The purple color at the upper right is not supposed to be there, it resulted from an error at the photo lab. Still, it doesn't look bad so I did not remove it. The above photo results from two 35 minute exposures scanned on a Polaroid Sprintscan 4000, and stacked together in order to reduce the grain of the 400 speed film. |
