M13 is one of the better examples of what are known as globular clusters. A globular cluster is a cluster of stars, which usually lay on the edges of our galaxy. This particular cluster has somewhere between 300,000 and 500,000 stars, each about one light year apart from its neighboring star. Globular clusters are amazing sites in reflectors with diameters of 10 inches or more, and look quite nice even with small scopes like the FS102.

Two exposures scanned and stacked.
